Appleは、2011年12月7日〜９日に中国深圳のシェラトン深圳福田ホテルで、MFI Program参加者を対象とした「MFI Technology Summit 2011 Shenzhen,China」を開催し、約2,000人のデベロッパーを前に同社のMFI Programに関する説明を行った模様です。

Appleは、iOSデバイスの普及率は爆発的な勢いであるものの、MFI Program取得製品の伸びが鈍化しているとし、AirPlay/Bluetooth/Wi-Fiなどのワイヤレス接続を利用する新しい認証チップを提供する予定であると説明した模様です。

iPhone 4SのBluetooth 4.0+HSについては、Low energyでバッテリーライフが伸びることや、ヘルスケア、ゲームなど幅広い分野で利用が見込まれると説明し、iOS 5のCore Bluetoothによる「Bluetoothオートペアリング」「Wi-Fiネットワークログインシェア」「アクセサリーアプリバックグラウンド動作」などの改善により利用アクセサリーが拡大する可能性があるようです。

また、iOS 5から、Bluetoothを経由したIAP（iPod Accessory Protocol）が可能になり、現在、ライセンス製品のうち２％しかないAirPalyワイヤレス製品などを７倍に拡大し、これらの市場を拡げる考えを持っているようです。

Apple has plan to expand MFI Program for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Apple had a conference "MFI Technology Summit 2011 Shenzen, China" for 2,000 member of MFI Program at Sheraton Shenzen Futian Hotel in 7-9th December. Apple seems to tell their MFI Program in detail.

At this conference, Apple told that spreading speed of iOS is explosive, but MFI Program licenced products are not so. Therefore Apple will provide new certification chip to make MFI devices to access iOS devices via AirPlay, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Apple told that Bluetooth 4.0+HS on iPhone 4S to be low-energy for longer battery life, and to support new application market like as health-care, game and other.

Apple seems to have a plan to expand AirPlay wireless devices market to be 7 times larger by promoting iPod Accessory Protocol (IAP) via Bluetooth implemented in iOS 5. AirPlay wireless devices has only 2% of MFI program licensed yet.
