電気心拍センサー、新しい加速度センサーとジャイロスコープ、W3 Appleワイヤレスチップ、環境光センサー、より音量が大きいスピーカー、サファイアクリスタルとセラミック裏蓋、Bluetooth 5.0、サファイアクリスタルとセラミック裏蓋など新しい機能が搭載されています。

Apple Watch Series 4は、Digital Crownに指を当てて心電図を計測できる機能と組み合わせる「ECG app」を年末に提供すると説明しています。

アメリカ合衆国保健福祉省配下の政府機関「FDA」の承認を受けたコンシュマー製品として初の製品となります。

日本では厚生労働省の認可待ちとなっています。
