複数のサプライヤーからの情報として、次期iPhoneに付属するApple 18W USB-C Power Adapter以外のサードパティ製USB-Cアダプタを使用する場合、USB Power Delivery Revision 3.0規格認証を取得したUSB-C充電器以外では、18W（9V/2A）などの高速充電が出来ない可能性があるようです。

USB PD 3.0規格は、EMIC低電圧駆動が5V以上から3.0V以上に変更されたのに加え、正規品を識別するため、接続する機器やケーブルの中に、機器間認証機能「C-AUTH」（USB Type-C Authentication）が追加されています。

次期iPhoneは「C-AUTH」対応製品になる可能性があり、非認証製品を使用した場合「2.5W（5V/0.5A）」を超える電力を供給しないUSB PD 3.0規格ポリシーが適用されると関係者は話しています。

iPhone XやiPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2nd generation)などの現行製品は、USB-C - LightningケーブルとUSB-C電源アダプタを使用した場合、USB-C規格としての15W（5V/3A）給電が可能ですが、次期iPhone以降の製品からは、USB PD 3.0規格対応が追加されることで、より安全性が高まる反面、規格制限が加わる可能性があります。

Appleは、規格団体「USB Implementers Forum, Inc」の主要メンバーの１社で、50人以上ものエンジニアが登録しており、USB規格団体が決めた仕様を積極的に採用する立場にあると考えられます。

According to multiple supplier information, in the case of using a third party USB-C adapter other than Apple attached to the next generation iPhone, a fast-speed charging for 18W (9V/2A) may not be available if it is other than the USB-C charger with USB Power Delivery Revision 3.0 specification certification.

As for USB PD 3.0 standard, in addition to that EMIC low voltage power was changed from more than 5 V to more than 3.0V, "C-AUTH"(USB Type-C Authentication) was added in the equipment and cable connected to distinguish regular item.

The next iPhone might be applicable to "C-AUTH". Those who are working on it say that if unauthorized item is used, USB PD 3.0 standard policy that does not supply the power exceeding "2.5W (5V/0.5A)" is applied.

If USB-C-Lightning cable and USB-C power supply are used, current item of Apple can use power supply by 15 w(5V/3A) as USB-C standard. But from the next iPhone and thereafter, as USB PD 3.0 standard is added, security is increased whereas restriction of the standard might be added.

Apple is the one of major members of standard organization called "USB Forum, Inc", and more than 50 engineers are registered in it. We believe that they have to employ specification decided by USB standard organization actively.
